ESSENSE TEACHINGS OF THE DZOGCHEN

In the ancient Nyingma school, Dzogchen - "the Great Perfection" - represents the pinnacle of the Buddhist path and the ultimate and final teaching of the Buddha. Dzogchen is the direct method for swiftly realizing the ultimate nature of the mind and attaining Buddhahood in the Rainbow Light Body. This is accomplished through two Dzogchen practices called kadak trekcho (direct introduction through cutting thoroughly) and lhundrub togal (spontaneously leaping over). Through trekcho practice, one becomes familiar with the empty nature of reality. Through togal, one practices on luminosity, coming to realize through direct perception the spontaneous self-perfection of everything.

Following in the footsteps of the ancient lineage of Nyingmas, we will put these rare and precious teachings into practice with joy and devotion. Held in noble silence, this retreat is arranged to provide space to receive the pith instructions and deepen personal Dzogchen meditation with the guidance of our beloved Khenpos.

Instructions on Trekcho and Togal will be given throughout the retreat , with the primary emphasis being on Togal instructions. The second two week section of retreat will focus on the application of these instructions both individually and as as group.

As preparation, Rinpoches request that all those wishing to attend the teachings please practice Guru Yoga and Vajrasattva recitation before coming to the retreat as much as you can.

A reminder to all retreatants making arrangements: Venerable Rinpoches wish very much to conclude this retreat together, as one mandala, with special ceremonies of accomplishment on Saturday, April 8.

Students are required to pre-register at the earliest convenience as space is limited and other preparations need to be made so that we all may enjoy a harmonious and restful retreat. Please send a 25% deposit with your registration to Padma Samye Ling. A 10% discount is offered for deposits received before January 10, 2006. In 2004, His Holiness taught the A-Tri preliminary practices to students in the US, and he has agreed to return to teach the practice itself.

This profound meditation system is an advanced and direct practice with the potential to bring sincere practitioners to the liberated state of Buddha-hood in a single lifetime. Unique to Menri Monastery, founded in 1405, the A-Tri Dzogchen practice was first developed in the eleventh century and has been transmitted through an unbroken lineage of lamas whose biographies are well documented. His Holiness is the current holder of that lineage.

The A-Tri transmission will be given at Garrison Institute
Garrison, New York on May 2-7, 2006.

For 15 years Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche has presented the dzogchen
teachings of the Bon Buddhist tradition in the West. His teachings
and commentaries convey a fundamental understanding of spiritual
practice in the context of modern Western life. His ability to make
these once-hidden teachings accessible, while maintaining the purity
of their transmission, has allowed his students to move beyond
conceptual understanding and bring authentic dzogchen experience into
their conventional lives.

In his soon-to-be-published book, Tenzin Rinpoche presents very
simple, clear and direct instructions for integrating spiritual
practice through the three doors of body, speech and mind. This
summer, at Ligmincha Institute's Serenity Ridge Retreat Center,
Tenzin Rinpoche will combine material from his book with practice
instructions from the text Ku Sum Rang Shar (Spontaneous Arising of
the Three Kayas). This text is by Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche, a
Bon master who achieved the body of light, or rainbow body, in 1934.

At this year's annual summer retreat Rinpoche will guide and instruct
us in the practice of tummo (generating the inner heat) to burn away
subtle obscurations and cultivate bliss. He will also teach
meditation practices for retrieving healing essences from nature and
the elements, which will include light fasting combined with herbal
drinks to purify and rejuvenate the body and enhance meditative
experience. We will engage the mind and speech with prayer, healing
sounds, mantra and visualization; and we will incorporate the potent
body movements of Tsa Lung, Trul Khor and prostrations. Rinpoche is
happy to announce that both Geshe Nyima Kunchap and Geshe Tenzin
Yeshe will join him at the retreat to help lead these practices.

It is Tenzin Rinpoche's sincere wish that through the intensive study
and practice opportunity offered during this year's summer retreat,
each student will find his or her own door to a life that is more
physically healthy, energetically vital and spiritually fulfilling.

As always, you may come for one, two or all three weeks of the summer
retreat. If you are new to Serenity Ridge, or able to come for only
one week, Rinpoche recommends that you come to the first week, when
an in-depth explanation of the practices will be offered. Of course

H. H. Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche will teach Troma at Yeshe Nying Po; teachings may start on March 11, 2006 at 6:00 pm. His Holiness will begin teaching the Lujin Ngondro and then Rinpoche will select who will continue on with the Chod teachings.

The complete schedule is not set as of yet.

Starting March 9, 2006 at 7:30 am each morning Long Tersar Ngondro will be practiced with the tape of H. H. Dudjom Rinpoche.

Origin of the Collection of All Sadhanas Cycle
The Collection of All the Sadhanas is one of the most important initiation cycles in Tibetan Buddhism. This collection of one thousand initiations is an authoritative compendium of initiations for almost all of the short sadhanas of the Sakya, Kagyu, Kadam, Jonang, and Shangba Kagyu Schools, as well as some Nyingma sadhanas.

The Collection of All the Sadhanas was compiled for the first time in the 1800s by the great Jamgon Loter Wangbo, a scholar of the non-sectarian movement, according to advice by Jamyang Kyentse Wangbo. In those days, Vajrayana practices and sadhanas were kept separately in hundreds of monastic libraries, and parts of the initiation and practice lineage were separately held by dozens of different lamas.


The Collection of All the Sadhanas cycle is rarely bestowed even in India or Tibet. When it is bestowed, it is also rare for practitioners who are not lineage holders or senior monks to have the opportunity to receive it. Because the initiation cycle contains one thousand initiations, it is often given in portions over a longer period of several years, and this will also be the case when it is bestowed here in the United States at Tsechen Kunchab Ling.

Beginning this year, and in following years, additional sections of initiations from this great cycle will be given at Tsechen Kunchab Ling until the transmission of the Collection of all the Sadhanas in the West is complete.

The Cycle of One Hundred Bari Lotsawa Sadhanas
This year, one of the most famous portions of the Collection of All the Sadhanas, which is known as One Hundred Bari Lotsawa Sadhanas, will be bestowed.

Bari Lotsawa was one of the most important teachers and translators who helped to bring the "New Tradition Tantra" from India to Tibet in the eleventh century. Bari Lotsawa was the teacher of Sachen Kunga Nyingbo, who was the first of the five founders of the Sakya Order. Bari Lotsawa himself received the transmission of the practices contained in the cycle of One Hundred Bari Lotsawa Sadhanas from the Indian master Vajrasanapati (Dorje Denba). From that time until now, there has been an unbroken lineage of transmission and practice of these sadhanas for 1000 years within His Holiness the Sakya Trizin's Khon family.

The cycle of One Hundred Bari Lotsawa Sadhanas begins with the major initiation of the Three Bodhisattvas (Manjushri, Avalokiteshvara, and Vajrapani). This is followed by nearly eighty short initiations for many different tutelary deities, Bodhisattvas, wealth deities, and Dharma protectors. Among these are Hevajra, and a wide variety of different types of Manjushri, Tara, Yamari, Mahakala, Jambala, and Kurukuli practices, and many others. Students wishing to participate in the cycle must receive the Three Bodhisattvas major empowerment as a pre-requisite and remain for the entire ten day cycle. Receiving these initiations prepares students for study and practice of a wide variety of tantras. After receiving the many blessings of the initiations, traditionally students choose one of them to practice.

Venerable Lama Kalsang Gyaltsen, Vice President of Tsechen Kunchab Ling explained, "Receiving the Collection of One Hundred Bari Lotsawa Sadhanas, not to mention the full Collection of All the Tantras is a major blessing and event in a practitioner' s spiritual life. Receiving the initiations of these many deities has tremendous benefit. In this life, it brings the common attainments of pacification of negativity; increase of wealth, merit and life; the ability to subjugate gods, humans, and spirits; and the power to destroy negative forces. In the next life, it brings higher rebirth, the opportunity to practice the Dharma, and to more swiftly achieve Buddhahood. After receiving this profound initiation series, one may choose which deity they wish to practice. It is not necessary or even possible to practice all of them. The initiation series is like receiving a medicine kit, from which one chooses the medicine most necessary for oneself.

Traga Rinpoche

Traga Rinpoche is an accomplished Dzogchen master, having received profound foundational and the most advanced teachings from some of the greatest living masters of Tibetan Buddhism -- including Khenpo Munsel, His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche, His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, Khenchen Jigme Phuntsog and many others -- and completed many retreats.

From Garchen Rinpoche, Traga Rinpoche received teachings on all Drikung Kagyu texts on regular Dharma service and practice, the five-fold Mahamudra, the entire Dzogchen Yangzab teachings, and many profound pith instructions. He then did his Dzogchen Yangzab retreat at Lho Miyel Gon monastery.

In early 1984, Traga Rinpoche received full gelong ordination from the Nyingma master Khenpo Munsel, who gave him the detailed teachings on Dzogchen “Cutting Through the Resistance to Primordial Purity.” Khenpo Munsel gently looked at Traga Rinpoche and said, “Your karmic propensity is to practice Dzogchen. I am your karmic lama. If you can meditate, you have today found the way to liberation in one life. You will never find something like this even if you went to look for it with your horse’s hooves encased in steel. Spend one year near me and meditate.” For the next seven years, he did retreat near Khenpo Munsel, and practiced Cutting Through, Passing Over, and many other advanced practices.

In 1998, Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche -- determined to make Traga Rinpoche’s vast knowledge and profound experiential understanding of the highest level of Dzogchen teachings accessible to as many students as possible -- enthroned him as “Lopon Rinpoche” (Precious Master), with lavish praise for his hard work and outstanding achievements. His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche selected Traga Rinpoche as the retreat master and resident lama at the Garchen Buddhist Institute, and asked his students “to have full confidence in Traga Rinpoche, just as I have full confidence in him.

Registration for H.E. Gyana Vajra Rinpoche's bestowal of the Collection of One Hundred Bari Lotsawa Sadhanas this June is now open! These initiations are part of a very important longer cycle of initiations known as the Collection of All the Sadhanas. This is the first time that this collection will be bestowed in the United States. Additional portions of the Collection of All the Sadhanas will be bestowed each year at Tsechen Kunchab Ling until the collection is complete.

This set of initiations is named for the great translator, Bari Lotsawa, who was the tutor to the first founder of the Sakyapa school. Bari Lotsawa traveled to India to receive these initiations from the master Vajrasanapati and then returned to Tibet where he imparted them to the Sakyapa founder, the great Sachen Kunga Nyingpo.

The Collection of Bari Lotsawa Sadhanas contains nearly 80 short initiations for many different tutelary deities, Bodhisattvas, wealth deities, and Dharma protectors. Receiving their initiation is a tremendous blessing which strengthens one’s karmic connection to these various deities, to their meditations, and ultimately, to perfect enlightenment.

Чёрным я выделил необычных женских дэватов. Пратьянгира вообще интерестный дэват. На старом форуме мы её обсуждали.
В индуизме она едущая на льве дэви, её функция защита от вредоностной магии.
В Ваджраяне Пратьянгира иногда эпитет Ситатапатры (форма Тары с зонтом, защищающцая от всех напастей). В комментариях Карма Чагме на практику Симхамукхи (перевод Рейнольдса "Тайнаяй книга Симхамукхи), в разделе "активности" даётся мантра Пратьянгиры (с её именем). Пратьянгира нтересный "двойной дэват".

Rinpoche has continued to exhibit signs of his enlightened
transference and the efficacy of his revealed teachings. The
monastery reported a steady rainbow ring occurring in the dark night
sky when the salt was changed the other night. The pujas for the 49
day period since Rinpoche passed will end today. Auspiciously

His Holiness Penor Rinpoche will come to Chuang Yen Monastery to give teachings and bestow Avalokiteshvara empowerment on August 19 & 20, 2006. It is a major empowerment consist of the preliminary and conclusion sessions. A rare sand mandala will be constructed for the empowerment on August 18. His Holiness the 3rd Drubwang Pema Norbu (Penor) Rinpoche is the 11th throne holder of Palyul lineage of Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. During the Nyingma Monlam Chenmo in 1993, H.H. Penor Rinpoche was unanimously proclaimed as the Supreme Head of all of the Nyingma Tradition, a responsibility formerly held by H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche and H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. H.H. Penor Rinpoche served this function for 8 years before retiring from the position. It is very auspicious for us to have a chance to receive blessings from a supreme master such as His Holiness Penor Rinpoche.

BIOGRAPHY

Drubthob Rinpoche was born in 1929 towards the end of the Iron Horse
year, in Lhoga Dranag, a province in central Tibet. One day when he
was about 7 years old, Kagyur Rinpoche recognized the boy as the
reincarnation of the great yogi Drubchen Rinpoche, and informed his
parent that he should be called "Druthob Rinpoche". Kangyur Rinpoche
also advised the family that the boy should be ordained as monk in
the Drepung Loseling monastery.

By the age of 19, Rinpoche had mastered chants and rituals. He
devoted himself to the study of logic, and study of the
Prajnaparamita and Mandhyamika under Pema Gyaltsen and Yeshi
Dhondup. He also studied the Vinaya under Lobsang Tsewang. Rinpoche
also studied Phowa under the direction of Kangyu Rinpoche, and
meditated in a 3-year retreat under the direction of Lhapten
Rinpoche and Kangyu Rinpoche. During the communist Chinese invasion
of Tibet, Rinpoche was imprisoned for 3 years for distributing
Protection Amulets among the Tibetan Army and others to protect them
against weapons and bullets. After release, Rinpoche went to

Rinpoche is skilled in treating people with abnormal ailments of
natural disorders such as epilepsy, nervous disorders, and
performing Phowa for those who have passed. Drubthob Rinpoche is
also well known for his divination skills, performing rituals for
dispelling obstacles from people, exorcism etc.

In 1975, Rinpoche established the Woechen Thuk-Je Choeling Monastery
and was appointed the abbot by Khenpo Pemba Gyaltsen (Khen Rinpoche)
from the Loseling Monastery. Today with sixty-five monks and few
caretakers, the monastery keeps itself constantly busy with various
pujas and rites arranged upon requests from people of all walks of
life.

The Retreat

Red Tara is the deity who forcefully clears all inner and outer obstructions/obstacles to spiritual practice. In her aspect as Kurukulle, she is the deity of bliss and power. She is the inner dakini and performs the "magnetizing" activity that benefits all beings. She is also the source of fierce inner heat or "tummo". In Tibetan, her name is pronounced rik-jay-ma which means, the female buddha that awakens nondual awareness.

This is a very special and rare Red Tara/Kurukulle practice which was revealed by the Drikung Treasure revealer Osel Dorje. Gape Lama is a very close lineage holder of this practice who holds the pith instructions for the accomplishment of this practice. We will receive the empowerment, receive the essential practice instructions, and then do a two day practice retreat. Also, for the first time the extensive sadhana for this practice which has been translated will be made available and taught on. Teachings will also be given on the concise practice text. This retreat contains everything needed to be able to do this practice with confidence.

Biography of Konchok Thubten Nima
(Ven. Lama Gape)

Lama Gape was born in the Kham (eastern) Region of Tibet in 1965. When he was 14, Lama Gape had the good fortune to receive instruction on the effects of virtuous and harmful actions by the great Yogi Damga, and he completed the four hundred thousand accumulations of the preliminary practices (Ngondro) according to the Buddhist Yangzab terma.




Lama Gape made great efforts to travel to Gar Monastery where he received refuge ordination from the profoundly loved and respected Garchen Rinpoche. He then received full monastic ordination and the bodhisattva vow from the great siddha Karma Norbu, and was then admitted to Gar Monastery. While at Gar Monastery Lama Gape studied tantric ritual practices of the Old and New Schools, and engaged in a wide array of other religious trainings. Lama Gape received special training from the Hlo Lungkar Monastery Chant-master (religious ritual master), Lama Yungthar, including the Eight Heruka Sadhanas, the Embodiment of the Masters' Realization, Vajrakilaya, and Essence of Great Bliss. He then served as chant master for Gar Monastery and later as the disciplinarian.




Thereafter, Lama Gape sought out and received teachings from many of the greatest living Buddhist masters including: Dzogchen Trekchod and Thogal from the highly-renowned and respected Khenpo Munsel Rinpoche; the entirety of the Drikung Kagyu protectors and the higher and lower tantra sections from His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche. Lama Gape also received personal, one-on-one instruction from the great Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche. Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche also gave Lama Gape the Kalachakra Empowerment and teachings and Kilaya cycle of teachings from Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche's own terma (mind treasure). At Drikung Thil, Lama Gape studied with the very venerable Drupon Tenzin Nyima and received some of the most profound teachings of the Drikung Kagyu linage, including the Fivefold Mahamudra and the Six Yogas [of Naropa]. He studied the Gong Chig (Single Intention), Essence of Mahayana, The Bodhisattva Way of Life, and the Thirty-Seven Bodhisattva Practices with Drikung Khenpo Namzig. Under the elder Drikung Chantmaster Konchok Samten, he trained in the ritual practices of Chakrasamvara, Varahi, the Yangzab, Sarvavid and Akshobhya. Lama Gape also received empowerment, teachings and pith instruction on the Yamantaka practice from the great Yanga Rinpoche.



Thereafter, H.E. Garchen Rinpoche asked Lama Gape to undertake a series of assignments to help reorganize and reestablish Buddhist practice and monastic discipline in monasteries throughout the region  after, in some cases, a twenty-five year breach in the Buddhist practice tradition. Some of the monasteries Lama Gape helped reestablish include: Hlo Miyel Monastery, Khargo Monastery and later Tseri Monastery in Sichuan -- where he reestablished the Great Accomplishment (Drupchen) practice of Yamantaka and gave other teachings. He next served (again at the request of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche) as Lama (religious teacher and minister) for two years at Tamgo Monastery in Central Tibet, the former dwelling place of Chung Dorje Dragpa -- the fourth lineage holder of the Drikung Kagyu. There Lama Gape established the summer retreat, set up a yearly teaching schedule and appointed a chant master, disciplinarian and shrine master. Subsequently, at Gar Monastery, Lama Gape took responsibility for instructing the nuns at the Fivefold Mahamudra Meditation Center of Gargon Nunnery.




In the year 2000 Lama Gape went to India and received the complete Drikung Kagyu empowerments, transmissions and teachings during the Drikung Snake Year teachings. There he received teachings directly from His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche, His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, Drubwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche, and many other high Lamas.

New York State Thruway (87 North) to exit 17 at Newburgh. Follow signs to Interstate 84 East over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. Take the first exit immediately after the toll booths. At the top of the ramp turn left onto Route 9-D North for about 6 miles where it runs into and becomes Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Follow Main Street through the village of Wappingers Falls. (Main Street is a winding road that makes a sharp right at the bottom of the hill and then goes uphill again.) At the traffic light immediately after the Sunoco gas station, turn left onto Delavergne Ave. which winds uphill past the Franciscan Monastery and ends at the stop sign at Sheafe Road. Directly across the street is our driveway, marked by a sign that reads: 245 Kagyu Thubten Chöling.

Спасибо, я это тоже получил. Далековато, часов 5-7 летом, Новая Англия, сееро-восточное побережье. Зимой туда ехать проблематично. Да и наставления по Трекчо обычно весьма общие. Сколько слушал различных лам,- одно и тоже. Только ННР и Кунсанг Дечен Лингпа (покойный) иногда освещают специфические моменты, а так... Можно и Лонгченпу почитать с таким же успехом.

Одно из двух или избаловался или за штампами перестал слышать живое :)

The Teachings
November 22 - Yangzab Outer, Inner, Secret Amitabha Empowerment
The Outer, Inner, Secret Amitabha practice is part of the Yangzab Chenrezig
cycle which includes Outer, Inner, and Secret practices for Amitabha, Chenrezig,
Hayagriva, and the Protector Hara Nagpo. This will be the first time the Outer,
Inner, and Secret Amitabha practice has been given in the West. Through this
practice one is empowered into the activities of the Buddha of Boundless Light.
Gyalpo Rinpoche has said this is a very important practice for these times.

November 23-24 - Yangzab Phowa Transmission, Teachings, and Practice
This is a very special phowa practice from the Yangzab treasure cycle which was
revealed by Drigung Rinchen Phuntsok. Through the practice of phowa one can
transfer one's consciousness at the time of death to the pureland of Buddha
Amitabha. Those who have accomplished this practice are also able to do this
practice for others at the time of death.

November 25-27 - Yangzab Five Vajravarahi Empowerment, Teachings, and Practice
The Five Vajravarahi practice is the secret Dakini practice of the Yangzab
cycle. This empowerment is rarely given and this will be the first time
teachings have been given publicly on this practice in the West. Through this
practice the activities of pacification, increasing, magnetizing and wrathful
activity are accomplished. This practice is also closely associated with the
practices of Tsa Lung which work with the winds, channels, and drops.

Elena Loboda is a researcher and practitioner. She unites the knowledge of modern science and esoteric teachings. Dr. Elena Loboda holds a M.D. in Biochemistry and a Ph.D. in Clinical Neurochemistry. 1) В чём конкретно заключается её продвинутость как практика? Факты на стол?!
2) Вокруг клиргрина всегда много народа тусовалось совершенно бестолку. В чем заключалась плотность её занятий с Карлосом? Клиргрин знает, что она использует имя Карлос Кастанеда (ТМ) в рекламе своей сторонней коммерческой деятльности? Мы можем их известить, и они ее от намерения отключат!
3) У кого именно в ашраме Бабаджи получала практики Е.Лобода. Имена назовите, где и когда. Нам так же известно кто там и что.
4) То, что Елена считает своим учителем ТВР ничего к её статусу не добавляет. Его учениками могут себя назвать тысячи людей по всему миру. Тензин Вангьял поручил Е.Лободе учить людей? Чему именно? Я - представитель московской бонской сангхи и могу связаться с ТВР в пару дней выяснить. 100%, что ему неизвестна даже её фамилия.
5) Ваши проблемы со здоровьем и планированием времени не имеют отношения к сомнительности вашей протеже. А может вы и есть сама, саморекламирующаяся, Е.Лобода. Почем нам знать.
